McMicheal Paint out - Plein Aire Ontario Group

 The Tom Thomson Shack
This weekend I joined the Ontario Plein Air Society for their paint out competition at the McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg Ontario. I was a great day, no too hot and no bugs on the painting. (for some reason, I normally come how with some insects stuck to some on my paintings)
I chose the shack above to paint, it is Tom Thomson's shack. Tom Thomson is one of the members of the Group of Seven. Google them - their work was ground break and truly amazing! I wanted to paint something that was  something special to the McMicheal. I found a spot under a big tree with lots of shade and painted.

The start to the painting, you can see how hard it was to see  with the dappled light coming through the tree above me, I need to get myself an umbrella!!

This was a juried competition, judge by two instructors at the McMichael Gallery. as well as a Peoples Choise Award.
I was so happy, I won both the First Place as well as the People Choice Award. The wonderfull books and DVD I received are really appreciated. Thanks to the McMicheal , the Curator - Anna Stanisz, and the two Judges, as well as the Ontario Plein Air Society.

The two awards I received.
Thanks again!!!
